[stylespace] sweater weather

stylespace

Hello, reader.

     IMG_3441

May I tell you something?

IMG_3433

Juxtaposing a thick sweater with lace popped into my mind one day. And so I tried it and ended up enjoying it to the point that I wore the exact. same. outfit. How many times? Only the Lord knows : )

IMG_3432

The grey on top and bottom of the outfit pull the two focus colors together: burnt orange and soft mauve. Why I think it works so well is partly because the loveliness of the dress is complemented because of the contrast of the casual knit beanie.

IMG_3435

I added the hammered gold necklace once again to pull all of the colors together. A rich metal that intertwines all of the colors together into this comfortable chic outfit never hurts!

IMG_3437

The shoes have a tougher vibe about them, but work with the asymmetrical hemline’s gentle fall.

IMG_3443

Love the way the sunlight filters through the lace to create such patterns on the pavement.

IMG_3444

Like, seriously.

IMG_3434

Don’t you?

Heh.

By the way, have you heard the Frozen soundtrack? My (very good awesome!) friend tipped me off so I purchased the album on a lightning deal, and have been listening to it nonstop for the past few days! You might want to give it a listen. It might “freeze” you in your tracks! ; D

Have a lovely day!

Love,

Jess

[#laterpost] Today was black Friday, and you know what that means! Praise the Lord, it wasn’t too crazy where I went, but I wanted to be comfortable walking around. A tip if you’re going shopping for clothes – wear layers (ex. tank tops) so you can try on sheer tops/items that you would normally layer so you don’t need to scrounge around the store looking for an extra item to try on in the fitting room!

       IMG_3424

This outfit boasts the crop tank as the visual centerpiece. I saw it on my favorite, (relatively) new women’s clothing marketplace, www.threadflip.com. It’s so exciting to see something that you know is just right for your style, and at an affordable price point to boot! The melting Chanel design has been around for a while, and while I’m not sure where it started, the overall aesthetic appealed to me. I’ve already worn it on several diverse occasions – once while running, and now this! I can tell you now that it will make a frequent appearance in my day-to-day life.

 IMG_3418

A chic, comfy, chilling-by-the-fire-roasting-chestnuts was the vibe I was going for, and I think the rainy day made it easy for me to achieve this feeling (because that’s all I felt like doing when I awoke).

IMG_3425

The rocker-chic aspect of the tank was offset by the coziness of the thick tribal cardigan (another one that my closet seemed to pick up). The soft brown-burgundy cardigan underneath the tank warrants a post of its own, which will follow soon afterwards.

 IMG_3422

The rich jewel tone of the burgundy is emphasized by the grey platform wedges, as the folds settle into the crevice between the ankle and shoe. I love the lines of the shoes, as they create the form. And not only that, but they’re so comfortable I can’t complain about anything!

IMG_3419

I hope you all scored some great deals! Below is my excited face when I imagine discovering those treats ; )

IMG_3413

I just purchased a few things, most of them products I was already planning to buy (*cough* hand sanitizers *cough*) and a few wild card clothing/accessory pieces. The loveliest time was just being able to be with family and see Christmas decorations go up to remind us why we celebrate in the first place!

IMG_3422

And off to the side you can see the coziness of the fireplace just creeping up. Ahhh, I can’t wait to do that sometime with a cup of hot tea and a good book, nestled into that grey blanket!

Have a lovely day!

Love,

Jess

Sometimes, there’s nothing more refreshing than making a journey to the waves. In a world that tries to make people look and feel big, the right perspective can make or break your focus on your purpose. Taking the time to be reminded of truth as the ocean spray settles on my face and the breeze whistles by is a privilege for which I am so thankful.

IMG_3380

We’re not so big or important, you and I. Having the right possessions, the perfect outfit, the ideal career, or the best mannered family can appear imperative for “making it” in life. It’s a sham. I love feeling small because I am  small – on my own, it is impossible for me to be a good person, a loving friend, or able to stand in confidence before a holy God. A grace indeed it is to be reminded of this by such beautiful and caution-inducing creation! The cliffs have a way of doing that to a person. Or maybe just to me.

But I digress.

It seems funny that I say the aforementioned comment and then meander into a [stylespace] post, does it not? Thankfully, fashion is not nor will it ever be my life, but it is indeed a pastime I enjoy very much and I give thanks to God for allowing me to dabble in it : ).

In [stylespace], I’ll be uploading a [stylspace series] of how to maximize the outfit utility of a pair of booties. You may have a similar pair to style in a similar way, or might just gather some principles and be on your merry way. As you wish, reader! I also have the vest and delicate hammered necklace make guest appearances throughout to show their versatility – you don’t need to have a piece for every occasion. Make what you own work for you, and enjoy this post!

        IMG_3391

Loving the chillier-but-not-quite-enough weather. The comfort level of an outfit (usually) trumps style for me, but I’m glad this seemed to work out nicely enough. ; )

IMG_3393

The warmth of the shearling vest complements the bold jaguar print and vivid color of the top.

IMG_3394

Side note: I appreciate the privilege of being able to own a bag that endures all the throwing about I do when I run errands and handles the groceries I occasionally stuff inside. It doesn’t hurt one bit that it’s cute, too!

IMG_3385

These wedges are surprisingly comfortable and soft. I love their gentle folds, as well as the fact that they streamline the  overall look. Boots that cut off at the ankle tend to shorten the legs, but these don’t offer such a hurdle to get over even if they do cut off at the ankle. The smooth lines ascending from the toe to the heel assist in elongation.

IMG_3398

I nabbed these navy shorts from Francesca’s Collection – I honestly couldn’t resist because of the pièce de résistance – the lace trimming! It called out my name, and I answered!

IMG_3399

And so it begins…

IMG_3402

IMG_3403

Would it affect your perception of the following picture if I told you that only a few yards away, several children were breaking off the stalks and sword-fighting with exuberant yells?

IMG_3406

And that they were still there as these photos were being taken, and that their parents were following closely behind?

No?

I’m glad.

IMG_3383

Yup. You can see them in the background. And I loved every second. Can’t get enough “awkwardness” to make you realize that the world is already a strange, strange place. I don’t mind one bit that I can add a little sprinkle of that to their days. Hopefully, they didn’t mind either. : )

Have a lovely day!
