How To Shop Smart I Spring Edition

fashionspace

Hello everyone!

Springtime inspired me to purge my closet (I’ll be sharing more about that in a future post) to make more room. And guess what? I could fling open the closet door and experience a breeze of fresh air wafting out, and all without a mountain of fabric avalanching on my face. Okay, that’s a little exaggerated, but you get the gist!

And with that extra room, I wanted to do a bit of smart shopping to start off 2015, which is pretty much the following formula: shopping affordably + appropriately to the season. 599fashion wanted to help me reach my goal, and so I’m here to share with you a few items they sent over! I love how they offer so many options for clothing, accessories, lifestyle, etc… AND did you know they boast an extended line to include items for men+women+children – any creative last minute ideas for Mother’s or Father’s day, anyone? ;).

Let me show you my little haul with 599fashion.com! I’ll leave you a rundown of the details (shipping, thoughts on quality, etc) after the images. Let me know your thoughts!

Hello, hello!

So today, I’m featuring the Zara laser cutout heels that I’ve been showing for the past few posts, haha.

I thrifted the patterned sweatshirt (What’s the pattern called? Not houndstooth, but something similar…) and…

I wanted something not too crazy to clash with the top today, so I paired it with this statement necklace from Windsor.

The gleam from the stones adds some visual interest, but the fact that it’s in the same color palette as the sweatshirt helps it hang as a subtle piece.

To keep this office-friendly, I paired it with a black pencil skirt from J. Crew (thrifted!) and the heels! 🙂

The pattern makes me so dizzy but deliriously happy inside, haha. I love the coziness of the knit, but do y’all understand when your accessory/a sharp corner of a desk gets caught in the yarn and unravels a part of it? Merp.

All ten of them, in fact. 😀

It’s a Monday and…

I have a confession to make.

My nails don’t appreciate it very much when I constantly put on polish. There, I said it! Sometimes it feels like they’re restricted and can’t breathe, which is probably a sign that it’s no bueno to do it all the time.

And this week, I decided to take a break! And post some lovely inspiration from Pinterest to spread the creativity!

So here we go! (credit/links to the site found by clicking the reference image)

1.) “Owl always love you”

Image

I always love me some sparkle, and to combine it with some forest love – well, that is some mighty cute happenings!

2.) “One in a Minion.”

Image

You can’t possibly say no to these nails, especially not after watching Despicable Me 2! ❤

3.) “Oldy but goldy”

Image

This is similar to my first #MANICureMondays, but the slim line, rather than the complete tip, caught my eye. The accent nail is lovely!

4.) “Patterns, Patterns, Everywhere!”

If only I had a steadier hand… but I can appreciate it!

I hope you had a lovely day, and have a great week!

Love,

Jess

[Question of the Day]

What kind of gifts do you enjoy receiving?

IMG_1236

Well, I received this lovely cup as a gift a few months back – handmade, too!

Those are my favorites.

Thank you!

IMG_1237

And I have decided to utilize it by showcasing lovely nail polishes that will be displayed for your viewing pleasure.

When?

Today, of course.

IMG_1238

For the past few years, I’ve been hearing the “pop of color” phrase tossed around so many times that I’d be a millionaire (maybe. probably not) if I got a nickel for every time those sounds wafted into my ears.

Maybe I’d be a millionaire if I received a thousand dollars every time I heard it. But that would be a full time job in itself, no?

In any case, I’ve been thinking about pop of colors.

What does that mean, you may ask?

Generally, when you have an outfit that is neutral (earth tones, grey, black, white, etc), you decide to accentuate the look as a whole by adding a single pop of color.

This can be accomplished with a pair of neon heels, a chunky bracelet in an unexpected color, etc. For example, an all-black outfit would draw the eyes to a pair of bright red heels (the heels being the pop of color). It’s usually best to stick to one pop of color so as to not create a haphazardly distracting outfit, but an outfit should be pulled together by every piece’s working to highlight the accent piece. Does this make sense?

And being the “outrageously” out of the box person I am (not… maybe), I decided to go with a pop of neutral today!

Who says you can’t?

IMG_1239

Featured today: Essie’s “Ladylike” (my favorite mauvey shade) and Essie’s “Sand Tropez” (my favorite neutral)

So go on, paint them!

IMG_1240

I usually like to make my ring finger and thumb the accent nails, and so this time I painted my ring finger with “Ladylike” as a soft pop.

IMG_1243

Ya like? : )

IMG_1245

And then I went over the accent nail with chunky gold glitter because, well, it makes life a little more fun. I like having little disco balls on my nails!

IMG_1247

The final look!

I hope you enjoyed, and have a lovely day!

[a new space] Mint Candy Apple

Uncategorized

So… I recall seeing “Mint Candy Apple” by Essie on YouTube. Everywhere. Even if I tried avoiding it, that in itself would have been a futile endeavor.

At first, I brushed off the likelihood that I would enjoy using the color because I already had Revlon’s “Minted.” I mean, how different can two mint nail polish colors be?

And then a few months ago, the company I interned for gifted me a bottle of that very one.

And for several months, in my shoebox it sat.

And sat.

And sat.

Until one day, I pulled it out on a whim and painted it on –

Needless to say, I was surprised. What a beautiful color!

photo (49)

Lovely.

I then decided to accent a nail or two with glitter – the choices?

Silver, gold, and rose.

I asked my friends for their opinion. A few people said silver, others gold, and yet others rose. How is a girl to choose?

Choose everything, of course!

photo (54)

So I layered all of them together (somehow it ended up on every single nail) and got this, protected by my favorite top coat, Seche Vite.

Ta-da! Now I have ten little disco balls reflecting glorious sunlight!

Have a lovely day in the Lord!
