[stylespace] can a leopard change his spots?

IMG_0378

Why hello there, again!

Today, I threw together the first outfit I could think of.

And typically, that means that my mind did not function and I pulled whatever clothes were lying closest to me.

Thankfully, they worked for me, not against me.

This Love Culture top is so ideal for me – I adore baseball tees because they are effortless and pulled together (in a sporty sort of way). And not only that, but the leopard print on the body of the item just pounces out to grab my attention.

IMG_0385

Deep jewel tones like burgundy have been thriving in my closet lately (hmm, sounds a bit like a mouse invasion or something), and so of course they would be at hand (literally)!

IMG_0384

Yeap. It’s strange. I agree that leather jackets (mine’s fake) do add a certain rocker-chic touch to an outfit, and to some extent I would deem it a wardrobe essential. You know, just to edge things up a bit. But I’ve had this jacket for several years, and it only seems to come out as a last resort. Maybe that’ll change this year.

Probably not.

IMG_0382

Just chillin’ : ) These boots are¬†the coolest! The gold studs accent the black so nicely, and the straps that hug the ankle are adjustable (meaning they move up and down and sometimes get caught under the “heel”).

IMG_0380

And here I attempt to exude “Zoolander”…

IMG_0386

But end up thinking, “WHAT in the world? Who do you think you are, Jess?”

Hah. I love a good laugh. ^^

IMG_0395

But seriously.

Who do I think I am? ; )

Have a lovely day!

Love,

Jess

¬†So… these shoes are taking me to new heights.

Quite literally so.

Would you like to take a look?

IMG_0275

Oh my.

My dear sister bought me these lovely beauties for my birthday a few months ago, not knowing just how high these would be. And when I opened the box on that fateful day, I tried walking in them and thought I would die.

IMG_0274

Not just from teetering and crashing like the walls of Jericho, but from how adorable the buckle detailing is on the strap!

IMG_0276

And so I determined to gather my courage and demonstrate my appreciation by wearing them! For the past month, I have enjoyed conjuring up new looks to work with these heels. Perfect to wear around the holidays, especially!

IMG_0282

Pairing the perfect hunter green top with distressed jeans made this look oh-so-very-comfortable, and the heels totally kicked it up a notch (no pun intended)!

IMG_0283

Nothing like some festive pillows in the background to spice up the photo ; )

IMG_0288

Love.

And seriously, no pain no gain, right?

IMG_0293

¬†The peephole in the back I found endearing, particularly with the buttons and the softest underlying tank that’s attached. No need to purchase or rummage around for a tank? That’s an A+ in my book.

IMG_0290

I whipped up this connected ring-bracelet contraption a year ago and found it perfectly contrasted with the deeper hues of the shirt. All about juxtaposition and finding the complementary&contrasting natures of different items to make it work!

IMG_0302

Decided to pair like elements this time around, with these gorgeous golden beads cascading down my ear. I’ve been favoring studs for the past few months, but seeing beautifully made creations like this challenge me to lengthen my earrings broaden my horizons!

IMG_0298

I hope you had a lovely Christmas, not only giving thanks for the various gifts given and the family’s love received – but ultimately for the One who is the greatest Gift and showed love as no one has and can ever show.

Love,

Jess

[craftspace] Easy DIY Valentine’s (or holiday) gift wrapping!

craftspace

Do you remember being back in middle school? I do, and I distinctly recall the¬†obligatory¬†gift you had to make for every single possible “friend” you had. Even Valentine’s day! Or was this just some self-imposed thing? Anyway, it was cute back in elementary school.

I liked the idea until every February 13, when I frantically threw together little nicknacks the night before to show my friends (please refer to definition below) how much I cared for them. Because I did care for them! And it was fun putting them together! And…¬†because¬†it’s not true affection if they don’t get anything from you on that one day in the year, right? *N.A.S.S.* (Not A Serious Statement)

My middle-school definition of “friend”

Friend- (noun) someone who 1) will stick with you through thick and thin   2) is an acquaintance   3) may be someone who may become your 1) or 2) someday

*aka every person on the little blue marble called Earth*

(I think my definition back then was a bit haphazard)

So anyway, I thought I could  make thinking and planning a little easier (and cheaper!) with three simple ways to make those preparations sweeter (hehe) and more enjoyable so you can reflect and be thankful for the love in your life rather than being like me back then!

Step 1: Get a variety of candies (preferably in bulk/on sale)

IMG_7385

Step 2: Separate them into cute little sets

IMG_7387

Step 3: Prepare all the materials!

Tissue paper? check
Twine & ribbon? check
Tape? check
Scissors? check.

IMG_7400   IMG_7410

Let’s get started!

Method #1

Step 1: Take one stacked set

IMG_7402

Step 2: Turn it upside down in the middle of about two feet of twine

IMG_7403

Step 3: Cross the ends over the candies like so

IMG_7405

Step 4: Then cross the ends in an “x” shape (in this case, turn each piece clockwise 90 degrees) so that the twine is touching all four corners.¬†

IMG_7406

It looks like this

IMG_7407

Step 5: Flip it over!

IMG_7409

Step 6: Tie a bow! Secure with a double knot, if you so desire

IMG_7411

Done!

Method #2

Step 1: Spread one sheet of tissue paper out fully and cut it in h

IMG_7413     IMG_7414

Step 2: Place candies in the center of one half of the tissue paper (we only need half of one sheet for this method)

IMG_7417

Step 3: Fold the ends over and secure it with tape

IMG_7418   IMG_7427

Step 4: Scrunch the ends gently (don’t tear the paper!) like so and cross them

IMG_7419   IMG_7420

Step 5: Tie with a ribbon, and you’re done!

IMG_7423

Done!

Method #3

Step 1: Place the set face down in the middle of the second half of tissue paper and fold over the ends. Secure.

IMG_7425   IMG_7426

IMG_7427

Step 2: Scrunch both ends and make it look like an old-fashioned candy! Mmm

IMG_7429   IMG_7430

Step 3: Tie with ribbons on both sides, and you’re done! Too easy, right? But oh, so cute!

IMG_7433

But our work is not yet finished! As the saying goes,

“A job half-done is… no bueno.”

(Yes, I made it up on a whim. No, it’s not a legit proverb.Possibly a variation?)

I digress from digressing.

Now, onto the cards! I chose three varieties here, just to tickle your fancy.

Prerequisite: Obtain a card (or three in my case) to give to people!

IMG_7388   IMG_7389

IMG_7391   IMG_7393

P.S. Prerequisite: Get things to decorate with!

You can choose “normal” valentine colors….

IMG_7395 OR branch out  IMG_7396

Or use a hodgepodge of lovely colors!

IMG_7398

Project: Decorate! (excuse the corniness of the valentine message; make it your own!)

The final steps: put them all together!

See, wasn’t that easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy?

Yes?

And it’s unanimous!

I hope you had fun, and have a lovely day!

Happy Valentine’s day (or any other special day)!
